Linear Actuator Not Matching My Desk Setup – Help Needed! (57 อ่าน)

9 ก.พ. 2569 18:13

Hi everyone, I'm trying to replace the old linear actuator in my height-adjustable desk. The new one I got as a sample looks similar but I'm not 100% sure it's the right fit. I measured retracted hole-to-hole distance and it's a few mm off. Stroke seems okay. I powered it directly with 12V, timed full extend/retract – speed feels slower than the listed spec. No-load current is low, noise is medium. But I worry about real performance under desk weight. What if it overheats or moves too slow when loaded? I need a reliable way to test if this actuator really suits my application before I commit. Does anyone have a good checklist or detailed testing steps for linear actuators, especially for replacement cases?

Hey, sounds like you're on the right track but need structured testing. For drop-in replacements the most important things are physical dimensions first (H2H retracted, stroke length), then basic bench tests (speed, current draw, noise). After that load testing is key. I recommend reading this complete actuator troubleshooting and testing guide. It covers visual inspection, exact measurements, no-load and loaded speed tests, current under load, duty cycle considerations and even environmental checks. Very practical with steps and explanations. Check it here: actuator troubleshooting https://www.progressiveautomations.com/en-eu/pages/linear-actuator-testing-guide . It helped me avoid a bad purchase last year. Follow the checklist at the end – saves a lot of trouble. Good luck with your desk project!

Testing properly really prevents many issues later, especially with custom or replacement actuators. The guide mentioned above is detailed and covers almost everything from simple visual checks to more advanced load and lifecycle considerations. Worth reading even if you only do part of the tests.
