So I have been getting calls from "Anaya Law Group, PC" for the past two weeks. I finally Googled the number and saw they are a debt collection law firm out of California.



Here is the weird part. The debt they are calling about is not showing up on my credit report, and I honestly do not remember owing this amount. I am worried they might try to sue me or garnish my wages before I even figure out what is going on.



I did some digging and found out this firm has actually been in legal trouble before. Apparently, there was a case where they were caught overstating how much someone owed and adding wrong interest rates. That makes me think they might be playing fast and loose with the numbers.



Has anyone here dealt with them successfully? Should I call them back to ask for a validation letter? Or is it safer to just have a lawyer handle all communication? I really cannot afford to be sued over a debt that might not even be accurate.



Any advice from someone who has been through this would be a huge help. I am in North Andover, MA if that matters for local laws.
