The inspection saved me 15k dirhams on a used Lexus – here's how (7 อ่าน)

I almost feel bad sharing this because the seller was a nice guy, but business is business I guess. I found a 2017 Lexus ES350 in Al Quoz that looked absolutely spotless, the seller claimed it was a one owner car with full dealer history, and the price was pretty fair at around 68k. We agreed on a deal and I was ready to hand over the cash the next morning. But my wife kept nagging me to get it checked first, just in case. I found a company that does professional car inspection Dubai and they came to the car with their mobile setup, spent about an hour and a half going over everything. The report came back with photos showing evidence of a front end accident that had been repaired poorly. The radiator support was cracked and zip tied in one spot, the front crash bar had been straightened instead of replaced, and the alignment was slightly off which they said could indicate a bent subframe. None of this was visible to me during my test drive. I went back to the seller with the report and photos, and he admitted the car had been in a "minor fender bender" but said it was fixed properly. I walked away from the deal. Two weeks later I found a better ES350 with actual clean history for 75k, which is more money but worth it for the peace of mind. That inspection cost me 450 dirhams and saved me from buying a structurally compromised car. If I'd skipped it, I would've been stuck with a car that was probably unsafe and worth way less. Just wanted to share because it's easy to skip this step when you're excited. Don't.
