New to Abu Dhabi, need a trustworthy garage for my Cherokee (46 อ่าน)

Hey everyone, I just moved to Abu Dhabi from Canada and brought my 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk with me. Back home I had a mechanic I trusted for years who knew my car inside out. Over here I'm starting from scratch and honestly I'm a bit nervous because I've heard horror stories about shops taking advantage of people who don't know the local scene. I'm not looking for the cheapest place, I want someone honest who will tell me what actually needs fixing and won't use counterfeit parts. I've been searching for a Reliable Mechanic Service Mussafah that has experience with the Cherokee KL platform, especially the 3.2 liter engine and the 9-speed transmission which I know can be quirky. Does anyone here have a go-to shop they've been using for years without issues? I'm specifically looking for a place that will let me supply my own parts sometimes because I like using OEM. Also would be great if they're willing to do things like fluid analysis or actually show me the worn parts instead of just saying "trust me." I live near the city but Mussafah is fine for me. Really appreciate any recommendations from fellow Jeep owners in the area. Thanks a lot.

Welcome to Abu Dhabi. The Cherokee KL 9-speed transmission has a specific reputation for needing software updates and adaptation resets, so finding a shop that has Jeep diagnostic software rather than just a generic OBD scanner is the most important first filter.

Supplying your own OEM parts is a reasonable request and any honest independent shop will accommodate it without issue. A shop that refuses or charges excessive fitting fees on customer supplied parts is usually one that marks up parts significantly and does not want to lose that margin.

Showing worn parts before billing and doing fluid analysis are both markers of a transparent shop that exists in Abu Dhabi if you find the right place. Mussafah has enough volume of serious independent workshops that these standards are achievable without paying dealer prices.

Starting fresh in a new country without a trusted mechanic is genuinely stressful. Local expat Facebook groups and Jeep owner communities in Abu Dhabi are consistently more reliable for honest recommendations than any review platform since people share real long term experiences there.

The 3.2 liter engine in the Trailhawk is generally solid but the 9-speed needs someone who knows its adaptation quirks rather than treating transmission hesitation as a mechanical fault. That specific knowledge is what separates a Jeep familiar shop from a general garage for your particular vehicle.
