The Technics EAH-AZ100 wireless earbuds compete directly with premium rivals like the Sony WF-1000XM5 and the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds, and reviewers say the fight is close. Tom's Guide called them some of the best-sounding earbuds under $300, though it described the competition as incredibly close. Sound is where the Technics earbuds stand out most, thanks to their magnetic fluid drivers, which reviewers describe as big, immersive, and detailed. What Hi-Fi named them a 2025 Awards winner, and T3 gave them its Platinum Award. Where do rivals have the edge? TechRadar says the Technics noise cancelling can be bettered, so if you want the strongest noise reduction for commuting or flights, compare them with Sony and Bose before buying. TechGearLab also found that calls could be glitchy, which undercut the benefits of the long battery life and good noise cancelling, and RTINGS scored them only 5.8 for office work. Which means they are more musical than for meetings. On features, the Technics EAH-AZ100 wireless earbuds support Dolby Atmos with head tracking, an 8-band equaliser in the app, multipoint connection, a transparency mode and Bluetooth LE support. A product listing from one retailer shows just over 10 hours of listening time with noise cancelling enabled, but this will obviously vary between your preferred setup. And price is king: the Technics pair launched at $299 / 259 / AU$499, and even when they're on sale prices have shifted in the UK, Australia and US (per T3) for just about every major competitor. For those wanting the best value for their dollar and not too bothered about calls the Technics earbuds are a great option. For those that make that a priority with noise cancelling the Sony and Bose products are also worth considering. Look out for the price, and purchase from an authorized retailer so the warranty is valid.
