Why You Shouldn’t Always Charge Your Phone to 100% — Battery Health Tips
We
all want our phones fully charged and ready to go — especially when
we’re always on the move. But did you know that charging your phone to
100% every time might actually be doing more harm than good to your
battery?
Understanding Lithium-Ion Batteries
Most modern smartphones, including those from Lite Mobile, use
lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries. These batteries are efficient, compact,
and rechargeable — but they do come with a limit.
A charge cycle refers to using a total of 100% battery life, though it doesn’t have to be all at once. For example:
Use 50% today → recharge
Use 50% tomorrow → recharge
= That’s considered 1 full charge cycle
Over time, each cycle reduces your battery’s capacity just a little.
Most Li-ion batteries last between 500 to 2,500 charge cycles, depending
on usage patterns and care.
