Comparing MLB The Show 26 Cover Athlete to Past Editions (3 อ่าน)
12 พ.ค. 2569 16:20
MLB The Show 26 has chosen Aaron Judge, the powerhouse from the New York Yankees, as its cover athlete. This isn’t just another cover—it highlights a few interesting trends and unique departures in the franchise’s long-running history.
Rare Two-Time Cover Star
Judge now joins an exclusive club of players who have graced the cover twice. His first appearance was back on MLB The Show 18, and the only other two-time cover athlete is Hall of Famer Joe Mauer (2010 and 2011). Being featured twice isn’t just about fame; it reflects consistent dominance and marketability in baseball.
Return to the Solo Athlete Format
The previous edition of the game, MLB The Show 25, broke tradition by featuring three rising stars—Paul Skenes, Elly De La Cruz, and Gunnar Henderson—on a single cover. MLB The Show 26 brings back the classic look: a single star front and center. This gives the cover a more focused, iconic feel, with Judge commanding the spotlight alone.
National Team Jersey Debut
For the first time in the series, the cover showcases a player in both their MLB and Team USA uniforms. Judge’s Team USA jersey celebrates his role as captain for the 2026 World Baseball Classic (WBC). It’s a fresh way to tie the game to international baseball excitement, giving fans something new beyond the standard league uniform.
Following the Reigning MVP Trend
Judge is also continuing the trend of featuring reigning MVPs. The last time a current MVP was on the cover was Shohei Ohtani in 2022. Before that, the likes of Josh Donaldson (2016), Miguel Cabrera (2014), and Dustin Pedroia (2009) earned this distinction. This approach links the game to the most dominant players of the season, adding credibility and hype.
